Overview
The Manager Safety and Compliance - CAMO (Departmental Safety Manager) is a key member of the European Cargo Safety, Security & Compliance team, based at Bournemouth Airport. The Manager shall coordinate the day to day running of the Safety Management System (SMS) in relation to CAMO both internally and externally.
Internal work includes the coordination of and in some cases the investigation of Safety Reports, coordination of safety issues with other internal departments, performing auditing activities, supporting the CAMO SAG, coordination with the UK-CAA on CAMO safety issues and the initial/recurrent training of European Cargo staff on the effective application of the SMS (philosophy, policy, procedures and tools).
Qualifications and Experience Required
Successful candidates will have at least 5 years of relative experience in UK/EASA Commercial Aviation Safety and/or Compliance Management. A successful candidate will have:
- Safety and/or Compliance experience, training or education under UK/EASA-OPS and Part CAMO, and Part-145 requirements;
- Operational management experience and a technical background sufficient to understand the systems that support the airline’s engineering and maintenance organization (Part M, Part-145);
- Background of higher education or Part-66 licensed;
- Team Player;
- Computer Literate;
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision
- Must be prepared to travel to foreign locations, at short notice, for extended periods of time, as is reasonably required by the company
- Must hold a full UK Driving License
Main Duties
- Act as the focal point, and be responsible, for the development, administration and maintenance of an effective safety management system within the CAMO department.
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management
- Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the Safety Action Plan
- Provide periodic reports on safety performance
- Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation
- Provide advice on safety matters
- Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigations
- Verify that corrective actions are planned and taken by the responsible managers to correct and prevent future non-compliances. This will include a root cause analysis process using the Centrik system
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the corrective action by verification audits as appropriate to the finding.
- Report on and discuss all matters relating to Compliance with the Continuing Airworthiness Manager and Director Safety, Security & Compliance
- Carry out regular audits and inspections of all parts of the ECL CAMO operation and sub contracted activities using the Centrik system and its checklists
- Along with Continuing Airworthiness Manager and Director Safety, Security & Compliance, periodically review the Compliance Monitoring System to ensure that it is suitable to support the high operational standards required of the department
- Support the company Part-145 maintenance organisation in safety and compliance matters
- Investigation and assessment of suppliers/service providers for charter and scheduled operations
- Undertake station visits and perform assessments and audits of service providers to ensure sustainable operations
- Updating and administration of the Centrik system with relevant CAMO information and documentation
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of company operations, manufacturer and operator documentation, regulating authority requirements, relevant systems and procedures.
