THE POSITION
We are seeking a full time C6 Seat Repair Technician to join our Seat Bay team based in Wendens Ambo, near Saffron Walden. The role holder will report to the Mechanical, Seat and Cargo Bay Team Leader and the primary purpose of the job will be the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, part replacement and re-assembly of aircraft seats in order to reduce costs and add value to our customers.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Inspect incoming components to assess repair needs and utilize SRM, AMM, and CMM to identify suitable repair solutions.
· Prepare repair scope reports and generate BOM for procurement, ensuring supplier compliance for spares and consumables before purchase.
· Certify and release completed repairs in accordance with assigned ratings, contractual obligations, and CAAS regulations.
· Conduct final inspections and issue ARC for components being returned to service.
· Maintain precise documentation of all maintenance work, ensuring proper handling, preservation, and storage of components throughout the repair process.
· Support First Article development for Part 145 projects and ensure workshop compliance with 5S and EHS standards.
· Track and manage the calibration of tools and equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Adhere to relevant safety standards.
· Report maintenance discrepancies and non-conformance to the Team Leader or Quality & EHS Manager.
· Ensure all work follows the latest revisions of approved technical data, including Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives.
· Participate in internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
· Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to manage part sourcing, ensuring timely availability of spares for ongoing and future projects.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Ideally, the successful candidate will be an experienced C6 qualified Seat Repair Technician, ideally with specific experience in trimming and upholstery in aviation or motor manufacturing. You will also have an understanding of technical publications and knowledge of Commercial Aerospace working practices. A recognised engineering qualification such as BTEC, BNC, ONC or HNC/HND is desirable but not essential. IT literate with the ability to use Word and Excel and a willingness to learn an industry software package (Aerotrac). The individual will be a team player, willing to learn, disciplined, with an eye for detail and a self-starter.
